School Transition - Q & A

If you have questions about the school transition, please send them to [email protected].

Question: Answer:
Who will help with the move? Teachers are responsible for moving their personal belongings. The District is responsible for District-owned items only. The Collettville PAC has expressed willingness to help teachers pack/move their classrooms.
When will teaching and classroom assignments be communicated?  Teachers will be notified of their tentative teaching assignments by June 15, as per the Collective Agreement. Tentative classroom assignments will be announced around the same time.
When will I find out which class my child is in?  Class lists are not shared with families until the first week of school.
Will Collettville students be able to ride the bus to Central? No, only rural students get bussing.
What will be the new school name?  The Board is responsible for naming schools. For dual-track schools, the common practice is to add the word "Ecole" at the start of the name - for example, Ecole Merritt Central Elementary (EMCE).
Is there a plan to change the logo/mascot?  Not at this time.
What will happen to Collettville's collection of French books?   The plan is to have a dedicated FIM library at Central. This plan depends on whether a classroom is available after every teacher has been assigned a room. Currently, it looks like this will be possible.
Will Sensory Integration continue at Central?  This will need to be discussed with the Student Support Services Team. The exact model and timing may differ. Once a decision is made, the model will be shared with families.
Has a decision been made on how the school will incorporate CVE school history?  No specific decisions have been made at this time. Once staff and students are settled into their new building, our French Coordinator and teachers will continue to play an integral role in showcasing the FIM program.
