Nicola Similkameen School District – After-School Program

The After-School Program is a free, school-based program that runs sessions throughout the school year. Typically, sessions for our After-School Program will focus on sports, physical activity, and/or the arts and are designed for specific age groups. Students are invited to participate in activities that help develop healthy lives through creative thinking and physical activity. At the same time, students develop confidence in their abilities and a strong connection to their schools, classmates, program leaders and community. Healthy snacks are provided.

This session, our program leader, Crystal Klapstein, will work with Wendy Van Dokkumburg and our high school helpers to offer fun, engaging activities for students. There will be 2 separate sessions; primary programs will run on Tuesdays/Thursdays and intermediate sessions will run on Mondays/Wednesdays.

The primary session encourages the development of movement skills, improvisation, creativity, and early literacy skills among young students.

The intermediate session will be engaging sessions where children can interact with peers while participating in non-competitive sports, interactive games, arts, and crafts.

It will be a safe environment to learn and practice social skills and hang out with friends in a fun, non-academic atmosphere. Children will be introduced to a variety of activities both at school and within the community.
 

Selection Process:

The school team puts forward recommendations and invitations are sent to families. If you did not receive an invitation but believe your child(ren) would benefit from this program, please contact the Principal, Brandon Sambrook, at 250-378-2230 or [email protected]. 
 

Logistics:

  • There is no fee associated with the program.
  • Intermediate (4-7) Sessions run Mondays & Wednesdays
  • Primary (K-3) Sessions run Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Program Time: 3:00-5:00 pm
  • Pick-up at front entrance of school 
     

Intermediate Sessions:   First - Monday, November 17, 2025  /  Last - Wednesday, December 17

Primary Sessions:    First - Tuesday, November 18, 2025  /   Last -  Thursday, December 18
